"Exif II* X } ( 1 2 ; i Tuesday the start of the 2019 Trans Atlantic Race in Newport-Rhode Island off Castle Hill Lighthouse with a medium breeze. The Transatlantic Race 2019 is organized jointly by the Royal Yacht Squadron, New York Yacht Club, Royal Ocean Racing Club and Storm Trysail Club. The course from Newport, R.I., to Cowes, England, covers approximately 3,000 nautical miles and will take competitors anywhere from one to three weeks to complete. The North Atlantic racetrack is one of the most challenging in all of sailing. It's also an historic course, with the first major ocean race sailing from New York to England in December of 1866. The fleet of 14 boats will start from Newport on Tuesday, June 25. The first warning signals will be at 1100 EDT. The first finishers are expected in Cowes somewhere between July 1 and 3. The New York Yacht Club Harbour Court in Newport, R.I., serves as the base of race operations. The start will take place off the Castle Hill Light at the entrance to the East Passage of Narragansett Bay.
